MIPS Tech Partner Summits - Dubai + USA: Creating a Cohesive Global Event Experience

In October 2022, Milestone Systems—a global leader in video technology—brought its partner community back together for the first time since 2019.

Two invitation-only MIPS Tech Partner Summits took place across the globe:

  • October 12–13 at the Grand Hyatt Dubai
  • October 25–26 at the Hyatt Regency Minneapolis

These weren’t just events—they marked a pivotal moment. The summits also represented the first in-person gatherings under CEO Thomas Jensen, following his appointment in 2020.

Designing the “Red Thread” Across Continents

Beyond hosting, Amy McWhirter partnered closely with Milestone’s marketing and content teams to shape the narrative architecture of the event.

Together, they developed a clear “red thread”—a unifying storyline that connected:

  • Company vision
  • Product innovation
  • Partner growth strategy

This wasn’t about simply introducing speakers. It was about designing flow, reinforcing key messages, and creating a cohesive experience across two continents.

That intentional structure paid off.

Feedback from both employees and partners described the summits as Milestone’s most cohesive events to date.

With Milestone’s brand promise, “Make the World See,” and the central theme, “The Power of Partnership,” every session, transition, and moment on stage reinforced a shared direction for the future.

Adapting Content for Global Audiences

One of the most critical—and often overlooked—elements of global events is audience nuance.

Amy moderated two expert panels focused on AI and emerging technology—one for the EMEA/APAC audience in Dubai and one for the Americas audience in Minneapolis.

The approach shifted intentionally:

  • Dubai (EMEA/APAC):
Conversations were calibrated to reflect regional communication styles and cultural expectations, resulting in a more thoughtful, measured discussion.
  • Minneapolis (Americas):
The panel leaned into a more direct, debate-style format, matching the energy and expectations of a highly vocal audience.

This ability to read the room and adjust in real time ensured both panels landed with impact—without forcing a one-size-fits-all format.

From Emcee to Strategic Partner

In addition to hosting, Amy served as a true extension of the event team—supporting:

  • Message clarity across sessions
  • Seamless transitions and timing
  • Tone-setting for key moments
  • Real-time adaptability as the agenda evolved

She also moderated panels alongside industry experts and supported keynote integration, including working with Waldo Waldman, whose high-energy keynote reinforced the theme of trust and partnership through his “wingman” philosophy.

The Result: A Unified Experience Across Two Events

Despite taking place on opposite sides of the world, the Dubai and Minneapolis summits delivered a consistent, aligned experience—while still honoring regional differences.

That balance—global consistency with local relevance—is what transforms an event from a series of sessions into a meaningful experience.

Client Feedback

“Thank you, Amy for helping our event soar in Minneapolis. The only thing that matched your preparedness, polish and professionalism was your boundless energy. You were able to read the room and help control tone and tempo which ensured our successful control over the timing and tone of the mainstage presentations over the two day event.

Your role went beyond emcee to that of a partner in the event ensuring our success. Thank you!”
